Hobbycave: UI/UX Case Study

Focus: Product Discovery & E-Commerce Flow

I developed a web experience for Hobbycave, a specialized hobby shop focused on high-end cards and collectible statues for the gaming community.

The Problem

Many niche card game websites fail to build user confidence due to technical and aesthetic hurdles:

  • Lack of Distinction: Visuals often fail to stand out in a crowded market.
  • Complex Navigation: Absence of a simple or minimal navbar creates friction.
  • Confusing Aesthetics: Cluttered interfaces diminish user confidence during the purchase process.

The Solution

Organized Layouts: Separated images and text to prevent visual overlap and ensure clarity.
Smart Search: Relocated search to a high-visibility area below the hero for quick discovery.
Typography: Used spacing to distinguish between primary nav, products, and articles.

Research & Benchmarking

I performed a focused Competitive Benchmarking analysis against TCGPlayer. While TCGPlayer is a market leader, their site often feels overwhelming with too many elements happening at once. This research demonstrated that Hobbycave could win by offering a cleaner, modern standard with a simplified layout.

Conclusion

This project reinforced that UI/UX is not just about aesthetics; it is about functional problem-solving. A clean design builds the trust necessary for a successful online business.

"A clean design doesn't just look better—it makes content scannable and builds trust."
